So we decided to make an advent calendar of sorts,
out of paper chains.
They loved being crafty. We haven't exactly been doing lots of crafts lately. Gotta get back into that.
The kids colored on their chains and taped them together,
and generally just acted goofy. We listened to Christmas music and sang along too.
Each day the kids get to remove a link from their chain. One day closer to Christmas! Oh my! Why does it take so long to get here and then it seems like it's here all of a sudden?
What are some of your holiday traditions and how do you teach children to have the true meaning of Christmas?

I love this post. Happy to see you all doing crafts. What fun. It is also good to know that even a princess can craft and make funny faces.
We have an advent calendar that's a felt tree with an ornament we put up each day (I got it from my old YW Pres as a wedding gift). It's been great for reinforcing to my excited 3-year-old that Christmas isn't tomorrow. :) We also unwrap a Christmas book each night leading up to Christmas. And the kids have nativities they can play with. But we're super excited about the new videos the church just released. We've decided to use those as our family scripture study this month--reading the scripture references and watching the videos to really get the Spirit of Christmas here!
By the way, your kids are so cute. We miss you guys!
Great ideas, Libby! Especially watching the church videos. We're going to have to do that!
