Umpqua River Fish Ladder

The Umpqua River is just down the hill from where we are currently living.

And the fishing is world famous.

They take their fish seriously around here.

This is a fish ladder on the Umpqua.  They are able to monitor the fish count and such here.  It's about 2 or 3 minutes from our house.

We'd drive past it every time we went to town and I've been meaning to take the kids, since we moved here.

 So finally we went.

We walked down the cement stairs and path.

From behind plexiglass we watched for fish.  We only saw a few, but Taylor is pointing one out for you.

A couple of days and inches of rain later, this is what the river looks like.  The lower, left-hand corner is where the fish ladder is, completely covered by water.  The river has changed color too.

And that is where Taylor was standing when she was pointing out the fish.  I'm glad we went when we did.

Well, I just wanted to show a few pictures of the fish ladder.  And now I really need to get busy with more cleaning and packing.  Trying to figure out what to pack, when you're still pretty much using everything is tricky.

I think the trick though, is to just start and things will come together.
