Stewart Park and the Train

There is a cool park in town that we love, Stewart Park.  We've been there several times, although it is not close to anyplace we frequent, like the grocery store or home.

We've been there in rain and sunshine.

We were even there in the snow.

The kids loved it.  They've been a bit jealous of cousins and friends getting snow recently when they didn't.

While the kids play at the park, I walk around the perimeter.  So it's good for all of us, but apparently it means I don't take pictures.  I have zero pictures of the kids at the park in nice weather.

Here's a picture of the kids at this same park, 2 years ago.  No snow.

There is a river, the Umpqua River, that you can see from Stewart Park.  On that hot, summer day, 2 years ago, we went and dipped our toes in the cold water to cool down after running around the playground.

We only have one week left in this town and the rains have come.  I don't think I'm going to get a chance to take anymore pictures of the kids at Stewart Park.  I kind of messed up on that one.

There  is a real steam train in the park complex, that has been converted to allow children to climb on it.  I did get pictures of the kids on that.

Taylor got clear up onto the top of the train and then decided she didn't like it.  I snapped a quick picture and then helped her down.  She's much more comfortable closer to the ground.

Logan clambered all over the train and was running and jumping on the very top of the it.  It made me nervous, but he never fell.

They made up all kinds of games to play with the train, such as bank robbers.

Things around here are about to get very busy.  It's already been a busy week.  We're trying to do one last week of school with the kids before we pack up all the school stuff.

We get the moving truck just one week from today.  So between now and then it's cleaning and packing.

I can't believe another rotation has come to an end.  Again, this year is passing by so quickly.  Yet it seems like so long ago that we were in Oak Harbor, but it was only 6 months ago.  It's just that so much has happened since then.

James has 2 days of work here left.  He has less than 3 months of working as an intern.  He graduates in just 3 months and a few days!!!  We get very excited when we think about it, but we still have so much to do before then, that we don't think that far ahead very often.

We need to concentrate on the here and now because there's plenty to do this week and next.  But we're excited about the future.
